"Baroque biscornu" in William Christie's garden

August 27 2015

The Promenades musicales take place every afternoon in William Christie's garden during the Festival, and give the opportunity to the participating artists to propose their own program.

The Promenade musicale named "Baroque biscornu" gathered together Douglas Balliett from The Juilliard School (double bass), Thomas Dunford (theorbo), Sébastien Marq (recorder) and Marie-Ange Petit (percussion). They presented an improvisation session inspired by Baroque music allowing the audience to discover another important facet of Baroque music.

The next Promenade musicale which will combine baroque and modern styles is Niobe, a work composed by Douglas Balliett for William Christie's garden. It will be interpreted on Saturday August 29 by Douglas Balliett, double bass, Lucía Martín-Cartón, soprano, Carrie Krause, violin, Edson Scheid, alto, Sarah Stone, cello, Joseph Monticello, recorder and Priscilla Herreid, oboe.
