Cascade of awards for Les Arts Florissants' label!

January 13 2015

Whilst Music for Queen Caroline has recently been released, the two previous CDs edited by the Arts Florissants Editions —Le Jardin de Monsieur Rameau and the Madrigali by Monteverdi ("Mantova" volume) —has been highly acclaimed by the French and the British press.

Performed by the soloists of the last edition of the Jardin des Voix conducted by William Christie, Le Jardin de Monsieur Rameau received the "Classica of the Year" award by Classica, one of the French foremost musical magazines. Including a short story written by Adrien Goetz, this box-set offers a wander through the heart of French vocal art from the Enlightenment: in addition to some of the most moving arias by Rameau, the CD brings together highlights by Montéclair, Dauvergne, Grandval, Gluck and Campra.

Furthermore, the British press welcomed the release of Mantova—second CD volume of the Monteverdi Madrigali series conducted by Paul Agnew, notably with the classification "Disc of the week" in the Sunday Times, "Disc of the month" in Gramophone and a four star rating in the Guardian :

As you would expect from this source, the performances are immaculate, the vocal colouring, the phrasing and the ensemble utterly refined … the sheer accomplishment of Les Arts Florissants is hard to resist.

Andrew Clements – The Guardian, 27th November 2014
