The jury, chaired by William Christie, awarded on May 17 the first prize to L'Escadron Volant de la reine, a French music ensemble created in 2012 selected from 12 young ensembles from different countries.
This first International Early Music Competition in Val de Loire has been co-organized by Stradivaria - Ensemble Baroque de Nantes and Anacréon, Angers. The theme is: Italian art of King Louis XIV’s France.
This competition for instrumental Early Music ensembles (17th and 18th centuries) playing on original instruments aims to promote young ensembles.
William Christie underlined « The quality of the ensembles of the competition. The winners had a very well built and carefully thought program and a very good technique. This prize is a reward for a group and a long-term work. »
