Le Jardin des Voix is an academy for young singers specializing in the music of the 17th and 18th centuries.

Academy and rehearsals :
August 2017 (Details about dates and places of Academy and rehearsals will be specified in the call for applications)

International tour with Les Arts Florissants :
An international tour is planned following the Academy. Dates will be announced once applications open.

Repertoire

The 8th Academy of Le Jardin des Voix will be dedicated to English repertoire and entitled An English Garden. The concert programme will be finalized after the singers have been selected, in response to voice types and personalities. The concert will be performed in semi-staged version, from memory. 

Application details

Le Jardin des Voix is open to singers of an undergraduate and postgraduate or equivalent level. Candidates must be aged 30 or under on 31 December 2017 (i.e. born on or after December 31, 1986). 

Applications may be sent from January 11, 2016 until February 1st, 2016, 12pm (Paris time). 

Candidates will have to provide the following documents: 

• a curriculum vitae of one page
• a professional recommendation
• a letter stating why you would like to be involved in this project (maximum 2 pages)
• a photography (portrait of 1Mo maximum)
• a photocopy of their passport/ID card 
• audio recordings (mp3 format, maximum 6Mo): three arias from the 17th and 18th centuries, one of which also has a recitative and one of which with vocalizations or colotura
• one by Purcell or by another English composer (Locke, Blow, Humphries, etc.),
• one by Handel (opera or oratorio),
• one in the language of the candidate's choice, provided that the three arias present at least two different languages.

Selected candidates will be contacted for an audition. Candidates will be asked to present three other arias by heart, chosen by the same criteria as for the recordings.
