Kick-off of the summer residencies at the Quartier des Artistes in Thiré!

July 9 2018

The Quartier des Artistes (the Artists' Quarter), Les Arts Florissants' artistic and cultural campus dedicated to sharing and education, also welcomes residencies of young artists and professionals in the village of Thiré (Vendée, France). This summer, on top of the musicians who will soon arrive to prepare the festival Dans les Jardins de William Christie, two young architects and two landscape designers settle in Thiré to develop study and creation projects revolving around heritage and the art of gardens.

Well-known by Thiré's festival-goers, the village church situated in the center of the Quartier des Artistes is actually the object of a restoration project. To this end, Marta Castellini and Sabatino Cecchini, architecture students from the Florence University, will take part in the diagnostical study of the building by integrating the team of architect DPLG Patricia Jaunet specialized in heritage, from the 9th of July to the 3rd of August. Their internship as well as the diograstical study are supported by the Weinberg Foundation and Prince Amyn Aga Kahn.

From the 30th of July to the 12th of August, two landscape designers laureates of the Ephemeral garden Prize 2018, Rozenn Duley et Grégory Dubu, will also settle in the Quartier des Artistes to create a new place for the promenades musicales in the gardens of William Christie. This ephemeral garden, titled « onde fragmentée » (fragmented wave), can be discovered by the festival-goers during the next festival Dans les Jardins de William Christie. The Ephemeral garden Prize is supported by Maryvonne Pinault.
